About the team

How meeting with the Nasser Al-Attiyah has brought the team to The Dakar 2017

It may be considered that the Autolife team was born when Roman Starikovich met Nasser Al-Attiyah, the legend of the Dakar rally, during the clay target shooting world championship that took place in Cyprus in 2015. It was Nasser, who inspired Roman to participate in the competition, and in August 2015, the Autolife pilot started gearing up for the race very actively. At this time, Desert Warrior rally car was ordered, which the team members call "Bumblebee".

Some time later, a real luck favored the team: Nasser introduced Roman to Annie Seel, one of the most famous women in motorcycle sport history, who participated in 7 Dakar rallies. All together, they went to Morocco for training where they met Bert Heskes, the Autolife team co-pilot-to-be.

After completing the team, they continued preparing for the race more intensively and participated in several local races in Cyprus. "Starikovich-Heskes Team" won three times, but during the competition in Famagusta, the car turned upside down and the team was disqualified.

When commenting on this, Bert Heskes was rather brief: "I guess we needed to turn upside down at least once before the Dakar, just to know what it feels like".

The team’s pilot, Roman Starikovich, is an experienced racer with more than 60,000 off road kilometers in Europe, Africa, and Australia under his belt.
