Accenture plc
The company was established in the 1950s as a branch of Arthur Andersen. One of its first projects was the study of technical and financial viability for installing a computer in Louisville, Kentucky, by General Electric. Three years later, the company recommended GE to install a computer and a printer in UNIVAC I. This was the very first commercial installation in the US.
In 1989, Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting became separate companies of Andersen Worldwide Societe Cooperative (AWSC). During the 1990s, relations between the companies inside the holding were becoming more and more tense, which eventually lead to the termination of the Consulting's agreement with AWSC and Arthur Andersen. Since 2001, the company has been operating under its current name, Accenture.
