The company operates in the US and Japan, and has offices all over the world. In 2015, the company’s assets were worth over $103 billion, while the number of insured people was about 50 million.

The company, which was initially called American Family Life Insurance Company of Columbus, was established in 1955 by the Amos brothers, John, Paul, and William. In the first year of its existence, the company issued over 6 thousand certificates of insurance. In 1958, the company was the first to introduce an insurance policy against cancer.
