Boston Scientific Corporation (BSC) is a company involved in manufacturing and distributing products for interventional medicine, for example, radiology, cardiology, peripheral and neurovascular interventions, as well as neuromodulation, oncology, and urology. One of the company’s most popular products is the Taxus Stent, which includes Paclitaxel, a medication used for treating arterial thrombosis.


Boston Scientific Corporation was founded in 1979 as a holding company called Medi-Tech. The company proved to be good at interventional medicine. In 2006, Boston Scientific Corporation found a way to acquire its old rival, Guidant, which was divided between BSC and another pharmaceutical company, Abbott Laboratories. In 2008, Boston Scientific Corporation lost its department of cardiovascular surgery as it was bought by MAQUET.
