In 2006, Boston Scientific Corporation found a way to acquire its old rival, Guidant, which was divided between BSC and another pharmaceutical company, Abbott Laboratories. In 2008, Boston Scientific Corporation lost its department of cardiovascular surgery as it was bought by MAQUET.
