Ball Corporation
The company was established in 1880 by the Ball brothers using $200 borrowed from their uncle. At first, the small company made tin cans encased in wooden jackets to hold kerosene, paints, or varnishes and called the brand “Wooden Jacket”. Soon enough, brothers scaled up production and started producing glass jars and lids. In 1887, the company moved from Buffalo to Muncie to use natural gas for manufacturing glass. Over the next 10 years, the company expanded significantly and then the number of its facilities reached 45.
